Turns out the main power lead broke off at the point where it attaches to the starter. The magnet is powered through the ignition switch, so it still ‘clicked’, but there was no electricity to make it crank. I had the old lead fixed and actually commissioned a new, custom made one that’s a bit longer than regular ones. That way when the engine is moving around it won’t strain the lead anymore.

Funnily enough, those who told me to just start push-starting the Fiat were wrong as well. :D I wouldn’t be able to go very far without the car’s main power cable. :P

So after all that discussion it's not the battery or the starter. At least the lead should be much cheaper than replacing the other components!

A new regular lead costs 10 bucks. I got my old one fixed for 3 bucks. Not sure how much the commissioned one is gonna cost yet.

HOLY CRAP!!! $3...??? How are you ever going to afford such extravagant repair costs?!?! :P

Hope it’s not too complex to install...? :)

It’s a bit annoying, since the centre tunnel has to come apart (the lead goes through there from the battery in front to the starter in the back), but it’s not too bad. The new lead is supposed to be ready on Tuesday, so I guess we’ll have the Fiat back in working order Wednesdayish.
